CSR Activity

On 22 Jun 2015 – As the Syawal (Muslim Festive Month) approaches, SMA organized a buka puasa (breaking fast) dinner for all staff and invited special guests from GOLD (Giving Opportunities to Learning Disables) which is an association dedicated to training mentally disabled children to acquire life skills and employment for independent living.

These special children are taught skills to earn their income through hand made products such as porcelain/ceramics, baking, handmade cards, special packaging / hampers, home decor and etc. which are normally sought after as corporate gifts, door gifts and ornaments.

By 7.30pm, the break fast prayer was performed by our Sales Engineer, Razif. This year our emcees were Fazli from Sales and Marketing and Wati from IT Application. They wore bright traditional suits; specially for this event. The guest of honor from QMS and our tendering agent partners arrived just before the break fast. We have arranged for the special children to be seated together with our staff and their friendliness and bubbliness surprise us all! They are very sociable and we got along well!

Arabian cuisine consisting of Chicken and Lamb Kasbah, Beef kebabs and the all-time favorite Nasi Arab were served, After dinner, our Managing Director, Albert Tan gave a speech and presented the mock cheque for purchase of their homemade cookies as a sign of support for this organization. Next, came the anticipated key board performance by one of the kids, William; and he played beautifully! To top off the night, we gave everybody 2 helpings of ice cream! (which was welcomed by everyone because it was a very warm night)

It was a memorable night as SMA was able to celebrate a very meaningful occasion with these special children and share delicious food and more importantly, filled their hearts with joy and laughter!
